Since 1998, Flute Lessons by Carolyn Purcell has been helping students at all stages of learning their instrument. From beginners, who have never played an instrument before to advanced players, who are looking to audition for competitions or college, and anyone in between! Carolyn teaches basics, music theory, sight-reading, ensembles and performance etiquette.With over thirty years of flute performance, Carolyn is also available to hire for weddings, funerals, or any special event. Performance opportunities are also available for any student who is up to the task!

Who We Are
I believe that an education in music is not only for students who want to go on to become a music major. An education in music helps students become well-rounded individuals and is an important part of a complete education.I have been playing the flute for over thirty years and have studied with Edward Wargo at Marywood University. I have completed in District, Regional, and All-State Bands, County Band and various Honors Bands. I started teaching in college, where I performed in many ensembles, to include, wind ensemble, orchestra, flute ensemble, woodwind quintet, percussion ensemble, and choir. I have also performed for church masses, weddings, funerals, and in an ensemble accompanying the Irish Tenors at the Kirby Center. My students have gone on to be accepted into arts and humanities programs, win competitions, study theatre arts in college, and compete in All-Eastern Band.

Flute Lessons
I take a comprehensive and collaborative approach in creating a plan and program that is right for every student. Adjusting to different personalities and specific musical needs, I always find what works best.
Performance Opportunities
I will have a yearly recital for students to showcase what they have learned through the year. There will also be flute ensemble - which helps students learn how to listen while performing. Also available: paid performance opportunities for advanced students whenever available.
